4 Signs It May Be Time for a Transmission Repair
When you shift from park to drive, and as your Chevy drives sedately your transmission is probably one of the last things on your mind. Your transmission allows your car to move, by transferring the power of your engine to the wheels. Without a transmission, your car simply won't move. Since the transmission is important and, unfortunately, even the best components can break, if you need a transmission repair in Flint, MI your Chevy dealer is the place to go. more Shaking or Grinding Although automatic and manual vehicles both have transmissions, they can react differently. A grinding sound from your manual transmission when you shift gears can be the sign of a worn clutch or one of the gear synchronizers may be worn or damaged. An automatic transmission can give you a jarring, shaking feeling when you shift into another gear. Regardless of the type of transmission, shifting gears should always be easy and smooth. Slipping Gears When you shift gears on a manual, or your computer on an automatic shifts gears, your car should remain in that gear until you or the computer change it. A slipping gear occurs when the transmission randomly changes gears with no warning. This can be extremely dangerous, as it means that you don't have full control over your car's power or speed. If this occurs, call our service center and our technicians will find and repair the problem. Burning Smell from the Transmission A burning smell from your transmission can be caused by either a transmission fluid leak or an old fluid in the transmission. Burning transmission fluid is distinctive, as a smell similar to burning rubber. If you have a transmission leak, fluid could be dripping onto hot metal parts of your engine and this gives off an awful smell. If you don't have a fluid leak, the other possibility is that the transmission fluid is old. Transmission fluid lubricates all the parts of the transmission, but as it flows through the system it also accumulates tiny metallic pieces and sludge. This detritus is absorbed by the fluid, which reduces the fluid's effectiveness and reduces its heat-resistant properties. Old, polluted transmission fluid can heat up and start to burn in the transmission and produce a nasty smell. Gears Won't Shift It's an awful situation if your gears just refuse to shift. One minute the gears shift just fine, and the next they won't move at all and your car is completely stuck, there are several possible reasons for this, including a malfunctioning solenoid, a faulty computer in an automatic transmission, or a faulty clutch in a manual transmission. The good news is that this frightening situation is very unlikely to happen if your car is regularly serviced If your transmission has a problem, call us ASAP at Randy Wise Chevrolet. We'll fix the problem, and your Chevy will be as good as new in no time. Image via Pexel.

When you're in Flint, MI, you're near some of the best breakfast places in the world. Whether you want a full-fledged breakfast restaurant or are looking for some weekend brunch places, we have a few suggestions that will fit the bill. The Grafted Root Eatery This is a great place for a wonderful brunch. They're closed on Mondays and open from Tuesday through Sunday, 9 am until 3 pm. The root salad is also amazing with the dried cherries, and we love to treat ourselves to their nut and cheese platter, too. They have local craft beers on tap. If you enjoy those, please do so responsibly and never drink and drive. more Valley's Breakfast Restaurant and Bistro If you're up with the sun, you can get breakfast here at 7 am. This place has been serving amazing (and interesting) breakfast and brunch items for more than 34 years, and they have a well-designed takeout service, so you can get anything to go and know it will be hot and delicious when you get it home. For breakfast, they offer amazing omelets and waffles, skillets, griddles, hand-held sandwiches, and huge country classic breakfasts. Their house-made sausage gravy isn't something you want to miss. If you're looking for something lighter, try the avocado toast or the lite french toast nites. We love their cinnamon french toast, and the bistro cakes--pancakes with walnuts and chocolate chips inside--are local favorites. Mel's Diner For that classic diner breakfast, you can't go wrong with Mel's. They have great food, fast and friendly service, and good prices. This is also just a nice place to hang out and spend some time. The owner will get to know you and remember what you like if you go often enough! Be sure to try the sausage gravy and the omelets. Mel's is also well-known in our area for its great hash. Their sausage is also outstanding, and we still haven't been able to get them to let us in on the secret. US Family Restaurant It's in the name: this is a family-friendly, family-owned place that has been serving up good, hearty food since 1976. Everything in here is made fresh every day. It's good, honest, satisfying food. For breakfast, we love their breakfast burrito and the sausage and egg biscuit. The crunchy french toast is a real treat when you're ready to splurge. Does Your Chevy Need an Alternator Repair?
Your battery provides the power to start your engine, but your battery depends on your alternator's recharging ability to keep it fully charged. The alternator also generates electricity for all your car's electrical components. Alternators have a relatively long life of approximately 8 years, but if it fails it will lead to your battery losing power and dying. When you're in Flint, M I and need an alternator repair, you're in good hands as your friendly Chevy dealer will help. Do You Need an Alternator Repair in Flint, MI? See Your Chevy Dealer Today Electrical Malfunctions Your alternator supplies all the power for your car's electrical systems from the time your engine starts till you park your car. A new alternator is designed to provide all the power your car's components require, but as it starts to age it becomes less effective at generating this power. When an alternator becomes unable to supply all the electrical power your car requires, power allocation choices have to be made. One of the first signs of a failing alternator is random electrical malfunctions. Your radio, for example, may suddenly stop working or your sunroof may jam open and refuse to close. These glitches are caused by your alternator trying to allocate its limited power to systems that require it. The devices in your car that demand power, the more frequent these glitches will appear. more Dead Battery A dead battery can just mean that your battery has failed due to age. A battery will usually for 3-5 years and then needs to be replaced as it can no longer hold a charge. If you have a new battery, and it suddenly goes flat the most likely cause is a problem in the electrical system. Your alternator is responsible for keeping your battery fully charged, but if your alternator develops a problem your battery will start to lose its stored electricity very quickly. If your alternator is failing, it won't be able to provide enough electricity to recharge your battery. The weaker your alternator becomes, the lower charge it will deliver to your battery and when the alternator dies it will cease charging that battery altogether. A battery's storage capacity is limited, and it will drain completely if it isn't replenished. Battery Light Is On The battery light on your dash will light up if there is a problem with your electrical charging system. Your alternator produces a voltage of 13 to 14.5 volts, but when it starts to wear out the alternator's voltage output will drop. When the voltage drops, a sensor attached to the alternator will detect the change and the battery light will come on. Our technicians will find the cause of the problem and repair it for you. An alternator problem doesn't necessarily mean your alternator needs to be replaced, we may be able to repair it. 4 Reasons to Get Your Brake Repair at Your Flint Chevy Dealer
Repairs and maintenance are part of owning a car. However, sometimes it's hard to know when maintenance needs to be done with so many moving mechanical parts. For example, a brake repair is essential, as is knowing when to replace your brakes or rotors. Your local Chevy dealer has certified professionals on hand to help answer all of your questions. 1. Age and Wear Over time your brake pads and rotors wear down. The average vehicle will need to have brake pads replaced anywhere between 25,000 and 65,000 miles. Your rotors will also need to be replaced somewhere between 30,000 and 70,000 miles. This is one of the most common repairs people need for their brakes. more 2. Multiple Parts Many of us have heard of brake pads and rotors; however, not many people realize how many parts are included in your brake systems. Some common brake issues include dirty brake lines or fluid leading to a complete brake line replacement, bleeding brake lines, or cracks and breaks in any brake parts. In addition, many parts can have issues, including the wheel bearings, the wheel cylinders, the breaking plates, and more. Master cylinders are not as commonly replaced. This system regulates the pressure of your fluids. However, issues can occur with the multitude of plastic and metal parts that encompass your brake system. When dirt and other particles enter the system, they can cause harm to the pins and pistons; often, this means that it is better to replace the system rather than trying to sift through for individual parts. 3. Braking Issues The braking pads are an essential part of your braking system. Changing the pads as you rack up miles is important; however, it is also important to note that you may need to change them earlier if you experience any issues. These issues could be squeaking or squealing, grinding when braking, vibrations when braking, or if you notice that it's taking you longer to stop than usual. If you notice any of these issues, experience any others, or see your brake lights on, then it's time to get your vehicle into a reputable mechanic. Having your car checked out at the first sign of an issue can save your wallet from extensive repairs and your vehicle from greater harm later on. Brakes are essential to you and your passengers' safety in your car. 4.
