7 Car Safety Features Available on Today's Chevy Vehicles

The team at your local Chevy dealer is committed to making the road a safer place. We show that commitment by including advanced car safety features like the ones below in the vehicles that we offer, helping to make you feel more secure on your travels. 1. Following Distance Indicator One common cause of issues on the road is drivers following too closely behind other vehicles. The following distance indicator included in modern Chevy vehicles helps to avoid that common danger. By giving you the gap time between you and the driver ahead of you, this system helps you avoid tailgating. more 2. Adaptive Cruise Control The following distance indicator isn't the only feature included in your Chevy to help you manage the distance between yourself and other vehicles. Activate the adaptive cruise control feature and your vehicle will automatically adjust your cruise control speed to move with the flow of traffic, ensuring you always have time to react if another driver stops short or decelerates suddenly. 3. High-Definition Surround Vision Having complete awareness of your surroundings is a priceless asset when operating your vehicle. With the high-definition surround vision system included in your next Chevy, multiple camera angles are used to project an overhead image of your vehicle. That helps you navigate tight spots with ease, whether you're driving forward or in reverse. 4. Rear Cross Traffic Alert Your Chevy includes other features to help you with backing out of a parking space or driveway as well. The rear cross-traffic alert system monitors the area you're reversing into for traffic coming from either direction. If another vehicle is approaching, you'll receive a warning to let you know to wait before backing out into the road. 5. Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist No aspect of your Chevy was overlooked when designing the vehicle for maximum safety, and that includes small details like your headlights. Intellibeam auto high beam assist detects traffic conditions around you to know when to switch on or off your high beams. That prevents you from blinding oncoming traffic, making the road safer for both you and other drivers. 6. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning Staying centered in your lane keeps you out of other drivers' space and off the shoulder where debris and other obstacles might lie. The lane keep assist system issues a warning via a gentle steering wheel turn when it detects you're drifting out of your intended lane, helping to keep you out of harm's way. 7. Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking Your Chevy keeps an eye out for potential danger on the road, alerting you of a potential front-end collision with audio and visual alerts. If the cameras and sensors in your vehicle detect that a collision is imminent, the vehicle engages emergency brakes or enhances your own braking to help reduce the severity of any impact that may occur. When you get these safety features in your next vehicle, you'll take confidence and peace of mind out on the road with you. 3 Signs Your Chevy Needs a Radiator Repair

Your car's radiator plays a vital part in preventing your engine from overheating. When your engine temperature rises, coolant is released. The coolant circulates through your engine and traps the heat. The now-hot coolant is pumped into the radiator, where it's cooled by airflow through the radiator grille. Radiators are made from aluminum and plastic, and they can suffer damage. As your Chevy dealer, we're here to help when you need a radiator repair. more Damaged Thermostat The thermostat regulates the supply of coolant in your engine. If your engine temperature is below 180F, the thermostat stays closed. When the temperature hits 180F, the valve opens and releases coolant from the coolant reservoir. This liquid traps the heat from the engine and transports it to the radiator for cooling. Once the temperature drops below 180F, the valve will close, and the coolant flow will stop. If the thermostat breaks, it will jam open or closed. If it jams closed, it won't supply any coolant regardless of the engine temperature. The lack of coolant will cause your engine temperature to rise rapidly. If the valve jams in an open position, coolant will continuously flow through your engine. Your engine temperature will drop below its normal operating temperature. A cold engine will use far more fuel. Our technicians can quickly and easily replace the broken thermostat. Worn Radiator Hoses Two tough rubber hoses connect your radiator to the rest of the cooling system. These hoses allow hot coolant into the radiator, and the cooled coolant to return to its reservoir. The hoses are designed to transport hot coolant under high pressure and to do this in the heat of the engine. Over time, the rubber will start to dry out and become less flexible. A worn hose can develop holes due to the heat and abrasive effects of the coolant. If a hose springs a leak, coolant will be lost, and this also reduces the pressure in the cooling system. The loss of coolant and coolant pressure will raise your engine temperature. We will examine the hoses and the clamps that attach them to the radiator and replace any damaged parts. Broken Radiator Cap The radiator cap controls the pressure in the cooling system, and it prevents pressurized coolant from leaking out. The cap has seals that ensure a close and perfect fit between the cap and the radiator. Damage and fatigue can damage the seals, and hot coolant will escape. Unlike a coolant leak from a hose, it's less likely that you'll see a pool of fluid on the ground. The coolant that leaks out normally dries in the heat of the engine. Coolant is made from antifreeze and water, and when it dries, the water can lead to rust forming. This rust can do additional damage to the radiator. If your seems to be running hotter than it should, call our service department ASAP at Randy Wise Chevrolet. Image vis Pexels.
