Where to Find the Best Barbecue in and Around Flint, MI

Close-up of grilled meat, red pepper and other vegetables.
There's nothing like some biscuits and brisket, corn and coleslaw, and all those smoky-good meats. If you're looking for the best barbecue in Flint, MI, we have a few suggestions we hope you'll enjoy.

Charlie's Smokin' Barbecue

Start your hunt at this award-winning place in the Flint Farmers' Market. Just beware: some of their favorites, like the mac and cheese or the rib tips, are so popular they sell out quickly, and especially on the weekends. Service here is quick and friendly, and all the regular items are great, like ribs and brisket (which literally just melts in your mouth). The pulled pork sandwich is a must-try, and we love their homemade family BBQ sauce. Save some of the bread for just sopping up that goodness.

Maude's Alabama BBQ

Over at 2602 Davison Rd, Maude's is serving up quality comfort food with roots in Alabama. When you eat at Maude's, you're eating the same down-home Southern recipes that Lona Maude passed down to her family: and you can tell. This is real food. We recommend all the slow-smoked meats, but the chicken wings are our favorite. Be sure to try all the available sauces. You can also get burgers, salads, and sandwiches here, and you really have to try the southern fried catfish. If you've never had catfish done this way before, you'll be amazed at how delicious it is. We always get the hush puppies, too.

Fatboi Style BBQ

When you're eating barbecue, you want it to be authentic, and you don't want the cooking done by someone who is distracted by other things. That's why the best BBQ joints tend to be simple--all the creativity and energy should be going into the amazing food. That's the experience you'll have at Fatboi, where Terrance O'Dell Sales serves the best grilled meats anywhere at 6715 North Saginaw. Terrance is family and self-taught, and you can taste his passion for the food in the turkey and chicken wings, ribs, and sausages. The marinade is the secret here; and there's another reason to visit. Terrance also pours his passion into youth through Urban Youth Ministries, which he started himself. Go enjoy some amazing BBQ and help this place invest in the future of our youth.

Backyard Barbecue

Just to the south of Flint in nearby Grand Blanc is a place that specializes in chicken. Their chicken meals are the highlight, but you will also enjoy their rotisserie-cooked, then barbecued ribs, the rib tips, and their pulled pork sandwich. Don't neglect to try their meatballs for something a little different. They offer traditional sides like baked beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, and collard greens. If you have people along who don't care for barbecue, the Greek salad and cod dinner are both excellent. The loaded french fries really should not be missed. These are some of our favorite spots when we're craving some smoked meats. When you're done trying them all out, stop by Randy Wise Chevrolet and take a look at our expansive new and used inventory!
