The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado is completely changing the game for midsize truck performance. For the new 2026 model, what was previously the truck’s most powerful engine now comes standard, and there are also a number of highly capable off-road trims. Our team of Chevy truck enthusiasts is excited to show off how the 2026 Chevrolet Colorado is setting a new standard for what a midsize truck can do.

A Single, Powerful Engine

The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado has simplified its engine lineup with a single, high-output 2.7-liter TurboMax™ engine, which is standard on every trim level. This powerhouse engine cranks out a massive 310 horsepower and a best-in-class 430 lb-ft of torque. And when paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, it provides diesel-like torque at low RPMs, which gives drivers instant acceleration and impressive towing capacity.

Best-in-Class Towing and Hauling

The powerful TurboMax™ engine also translates to real-world capability, perfect for the job site or for road trips. When properly equipped, the 2026 Chevrolet Colorado has a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs. This gives you the ability to haul larger boats and campers that other midsize trucks can’t handle.

Newly Added Off-Road Prowess

For drivers who take their pickup truck off the beaten path, the new Chevrolet Colorado is a game-changer. The Trail Boss trim comes standard with a 2-inch factory lift, a wider stance, and 32-inch all-terrain tires. The ZR2 Bison takes things even further with best-in-class ground clearance, breakover angle, and underbody protection. Meanwhile, the front and rear jounce control dampers were performance tested at the Best in the Desert series.
