Flint, MI is a great place to live, but sometimes it’s nice to head out of the city and enjoy some camping. From isolated tent spots to sprawling RV resorts, there are plenty of local campgrounds that will suit you.
1. Holiday Shores RV Resort
If you’re looking for a little extra luxury when you camp, Holiday Shores is the place for you. One of the best resort parks in the state, it’s got 615 full hook-up sites, catering to all types of RVs.
Holiday Shores offers lots of amenities and activities to keep you entertained. There’s a lake for swimming, fishing, and boating, a recreation area with tennis courts and other sports facilities, and even a 9-hole golf course. The park is open May through October and is located in Durand, about a 15-minute drive from downtown Flint.
2. Hilltop Campground
Sitting on the banks of Nepessing Lake, Hilltop Campground offers a truly beautiful location to camp. With over 500 feet of beautiful shoreline to enjoy, visitors can enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, and other great activities. Spend an afternoon at the sandy, private beach, or enjoy something delicious at the grassy picnic area.
Nearby, there are plenty of great attractions. There are several other lakes for more watery fun, large golf courses, restaurants, and historical attractions. With 60 sites to choose from, you’re sure to find somewhere for an ideal trip.
3. Otter Lake Village Campground
With over 40 sites catering to RVs, tents, and trailers, there are plenty of places to set up at Otter Lake Village Campground. The amenities are good, with bathrooms and picnic areas. You can also enjoy the local attractions in the nearby Otter Lake Village.
This site is open from April 15th to October 15th. If you’re visiting over the 4th of July weekend, there’s a 3-day minimum stay required with payment upfront. Prices start from $25 a night for basic tent spots.
4. Walnut Hills Family Campground
Walnut Hills is a great spot for campers of all ages! Sitting by the Shiawassee River, it has its own pond with plenty of shady spots around it. There are sports facilities, full water, electric, and sewage hookups, and even cabins available to rent!
Located in Durand, Walnut Hills Family Campground is just a half hour’s drive from Flint. This campground is best visited in midweek, as the private beach is open from Monday through Thursday.
5. Outdoor Adventures Lake Shore
This pleasant Lakeside Spot has everything a camper could wish for. There are over 580 individual sites, including spots for tents, RVs, and trailers, along with a fantastic array of facilities to keep visitors comfortable and entertained. Enjoy the game room, a mini-golf course, water park, sauna, and more!
You’ll find this well-equipped spot in Davidson, just a short 15-minute drive from Flint. Be sure to check their event calendar in advance, for news of fun goings-on at the site!
