The outstanding people of Flint, MI, demonstrate their love and loyalty with bright, vivid strokes of their paintbrushes and heartfelt, poignant twists of wire. We are proud to present this list of amazing spots to view local art while you’re in town.

1. Flint Public Art Project

As you drive through Flint, you’ll notice beauty can be found even in presumably dark places dismissed by society until an artist viewed them in a new light, including reclaimed abandoned houses, vacant lots, and underutilized buildings that are now proud banners of strength and resiliency. You can start at 615 Saginaw Street or look online for guidance on locating the dozens of vibrant murals created to broadcast a new story about this great city.

If you are a resident of Flint, keep an eye out for their call to action as they seek participants for week-long mural festivals. They also host pop-up events in conjunction with the Greater Flint Arts Council, like the FLY Art and Fashion pop-up, which featured live music and good vibes!

2. Riverbank Arts

This community-centered space located at 400 Saginaw Street supports creatives with the aspiration to inspire and uplift the public through powerful social and cultural works of art. By combining the mastery of a paintbrush with sound art, performance, and video, their current exhibit The River highlights the need for healthy and clean waterways.

3. Greater Flint Arts Council

This non-profit organization was created to enrich the diverse cultural landscape of Genessee County and the greater Flint region by advocating for local and regional artists. Located in the heart of downtown Flint at 816 Saginaw Street, GFAC produces many concerts, events, and exhibitions alone and through partnerships with the county’s art scene.

In March of 2023, they will host the Cool City Art Auction, a silent auction of original artwork taking place at several locations with food and live music. GFAC also provides an art education program called Artshare, which connects local talent to K-12 students in the region.

4. Art at the Market

Inside the farmer’s market at 300 E 1st Street next to the Children’s Museum sits a unique gallery showcasing over 25 artists. They are open year-round, so hop in your 2022 Chevrolet Traverse to browse the vast selection ranging from glass, textiles, paintings, mixed media, metal, pottery, and more – guaranteed to have the ultimate handmade gift for any occasion.
