If you happen to be swooping through the Flint, MI area looking for bakeries because you must have treats, we have a few suggestions where you can pick up some local delights. There are so many great little places to choose from around here that we could be listing them all day, but let’s just drop a quick handful first to get the party started.

1. The Cookie Jar

Look out, because you could find yourself going back to the cookies here again and again! Featuring the “Million Dollar Cookie” that started it all, the shop is known for its friendly customer care, as well as “regular” chocolate chip cookies that get raves (to stand out in that category is pretty special). Classics like oatmeal raisin and peanut butter are also on offer, plus some pies and cakes by the slice, as well as ice cream.

2. King Arthur’s Pasties

Specializing in pasties, which are usually flaky pastry wrapped around meat fillings for easy munching, this place is ready to honor your savory cravings. Quiche could be a good solution, too. There are also pies and cakes from fruit to carrot and pecan, plus brownies, muffins, cupcakes, and fruit and nut breads (there’s also zucchini bread). You’ll find a bunch more, too, including a selection of cookies that includes a molasses with jelly option.

3. Semi-Sweets

Are you ready for some color? Because treats are more fun when they smell, taste, and look sensational. There’s a lot of variety here, with cookies, scones, brownies, and layered parfaits, as well as cakes (yes, they do custom work), fruit tarts, and cheesecake. You wouldn’t be surprised to find cupcakes, cake pops, decorated and frosted cookies, and cannoli here. House-made candies and fun items like pretzel rods dipped in pink chocolate might get you, too.

4. Donna’s Donuts

Donuts galore is the game here, and these are creations that take their job quite seriously, thanks. Have a maple cinnamon roll, a “moon rock” apple fritter, or a “chocolate stick” filled with a fluffy center and frosted in chocolate. From coconut covered, to fried and glazed, to nut topped, to red velvet cake donuts, the choices are wild. The twists and bars and sticks could make you forget the old, classic round donut with a hole … just kidding!

5. Crust Baking

With a full restaurant headquarters in Fenton, Crust’s Flint outpost at the farmer’s market is like bait for happy baked goods customers that rave about everything here from bread to peanut-butter-frosted jelly donuts. You can get their goodies in many markets and have them shipped, too, so you can never escape! Not that you’ll mind, for access to artisan berry pies, sour cream pecan coffee cake, their tri-county pepper bread, and more.
