1. Machine Shop Concert Lounge
Metal-heads and rock-and-roll fanatics have made this lounge a home-away-from-home since 2002. And if outlaw country’s the only real country music genre as far as you’re concerned, you’ll find respite here too. On any given night throughout the week, you can rock the night away with a few hundred fellow fans in a cozy but raucous atmosphere.

3. The Whiting Auditorium
Rock of Ages, Chris Isaak, Peabo Brison, and Rain (a Beatles tribute band) are just a few of the names that have taken the stage at this 2,000-plus seat theater that welcomes music masters from all genres and from around the world. Broadway musical theater has an especially rich legacy at this renowned venue. Spirited productions have run the range from Anastasia to Mamma Mia.
In addition, watch the inspiring stories of legends such as Aretha Franklin and Simon & Garfunkel unfold on the stage. If all of these incredible offerings were not incentive enough, this talent-packed auditorium also serves as home base for the hometown favorite Flint Symphony Orchestra.
4. Flint Local 432
This downtown locale has evolved and stood strong along with the enduring city it represents. The hub has remained faithful to its mission of opening its doors to patrons of all ages and to any band who wants a shot at stardom. Its recent success stories include The Swellers and Chiodos. The venue also touts record store the Bearded Lady, where you can take your underground music fix on the go.
If you really want an all-out musical experience on the go, you can’t go wrong with the Chevy Corvette’s beastly Bose sound system. This awesome acoustics monster can out-howl Steven Tyler himself with its massive 14-speaker surround-sound capacity.
5. Cork on Saginaw
Mussels, lamb chops, and black bean burgers aren’t the only show-stoppers on the menu at this fine dining establishment. Most Wednesdays and some weekends, enjoy your meal with a side of the musical stylings of guitar strummers with a soulful vibe.
